Hopes and Fears for Art William Morris 9781374856608 Books
Written at the liminal time of the transition from the guild system to modern factory production, Morris is at times overly idealistic about social change and about the utopian possibilities of a society of satisfied artisans. Because of the clarity with which Morris could see the developing roots of today's society of mass production and consumption, this is a very valuable book. A small caveat: Victorian writers, like Morris, seem to think in entire paragraphs and are awkward to cite without taking up a lot of space.Product details

Hopes and Fears for Art William Morris 9781374856608 Books Reviews
I love Williams Morris's stories, so I wanted to read his thoughts on art in general. He seemed to think the solution to all the world's ills was more art. It just strikes me as incredibly naive for such a gifted mind. But this gem is worth remembering
